Trainee Spotlight: Ivan Nieces 

Ivan Nieces was introduced to Franklinton Rising after participating in a construction class while a student at Central High School. He began training with Franklinton Rising in 2021 and has continued through and beyond graduation in May 2023. He is now in the process of launching a career in the building trades! Although he has faced much adversity in life, he has grown into a motivated leader demonstrating a solid character and is ready to begin his career in electrical construction. The Progress Continues!

This month we completed the framing at 93 Chicago Ave, and we started working on the framing of the floors and walls at 89 Chicago.

Additionally, our trainees have had the opportunity to learn and gain valuable skills in doing masonry block on the front porch. This hands-on experience is critical for our trainees not only as they prepare for careers in the construction industry, but also for future work on their own residences.

We also received two new trainees, Alejandro and Desire!

Lunch and Learn

We had the pleasure of hosting Ben Trost during our Lunch & Learn series this past month. Our trainees got to hear about some critical aspects of life including goal setting and becoming a lifelong learner.

Trainees learned that goal setting is the process of defining clear objectives in various aspects of life, providing direction, motivation, and progress measurement. Lifelong learning involves a continuous commitment to acquiring new knowledge and skills, fostering adaptability, personal growth, and passion for learning.
